The Perfect Lighting Solution for Hybrid Shooters
More often than not our shoots now demand us to shoot both photographic stills and video. Photographers like us who work on location in low light situations have previously relied on strobes to add any additional lighting. With the benefits of being able to modify to soften, gel or tightly control the light source we were very familiar with using flash both on and off camera. However this did not offer a solution for video and in fact actively degraded the quality of the filming work by the presence of the flash adding a much brighter light which is is strobing on and off at various speeds.
The answer was to find a suitable continuous light source that was:
- powerful
- lightweight
- robust
- portable
- dimmable
- temperature controlled
- modifiable
- ideally able to gel for creative purposes
Rotolight – Innovative British LED Lighting for Imagemakers
Just like the Sony Alpha Series offers us the holy grail for a single hybrid platform, Rotolight delivers all of this and more! We now use the NEO 3 three light kit and the AEOS 2 Ultimate Kit across all shoots – weddings, portraits, commercial, food and boudoir. This week they have launched the new Pro Editions building on the continuous light output by 25%, increasing their range of built-in support for flash receivers and adding Kelvin Presets.
Rotolight and Weddings
As Hybrid shooters (photography and video) Rotolight is the perfect solution – in the video below we discuss why this is the case and show examples of lighting weddings using the system.
We are absolutely delighted to have been asked to join the team of fantastic creatives as Rotolight Masters of Light. Here are a number of behind the scenes set ups and final images to give you a taste of how we are using them.
